Igor V. Babailov, Honorary American Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (est.1757), began his formal classical art training at the age of 9 (like Raphael). In sixteen years, he attained the highest level of the academic art education having received the doctoral equivalent, Master of Fine Arts degree (M.F.A.) from the world acclaimed Surikov State Academic Art Institute (aka Surikov Academy) of the Russian Academy of Arts (est.1757) which taught and gave the world many outstanding Masters, including the great American artist Whistler.
Through his fine art education, Igor Babailov belongs to the direct Teacher~Student' academic lineage of world-famous Master artists, Repin and Serov. Babailov follows the traditions of his famous teachers and, upon graduating from the Academy over 30 years ago, he continues to share his professional knowledge and artistic expertise with his students and fellow artists around the world.
These workshops are the rare opportunity to learn the insights of portraiture and advance your skills in painting and drawing portraits from life. If one can comfortably paint a portrait entirely from life, one will always be able to work from photographs as well, and not the other way around. This is the reality!
